Plein Air 2 Studio: Featuring the Plein Air Artists of Mississippi, March 2015
The Plein Air Artists of Mississippi has opened a show at the Mississippi Library Commission titled "Plein Air 2 Studio."  It is featuring artwork by thirteen artists demonstrating studio paintings inspired by plein air paintings.  The reception is on Thursday, March 19th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

I have five small plein air works of art in the show: St. Anne (study), Sacred Ground (study), Field Flowers, Way Down South, and Lake George Cottonfield. My larger studio paintings in the show are titled St. Anne and Sacred Ground. Please visit the Mississippi Library Commission to see all the works of art on display!

Great Delta Bear Affair 2013

The Delta Artists Association will showcase our artwork in a booth at Rolling Fork's Great Delta Bear Affair on Saturday, October 26th!  Come for the arts, music, magic, tours, and fireworks!

I will also have two paintings in the silent auction at the Great Delta Bear Affair's Patrons' Party the same weekend.

DAA Workshop with Dot Courson

Dot Courson returned once again to lead a wonderful workshop in oil painting. Delta Artist Association members created some beautiful landscapes this week, which may be viewed in an exhibit at The Leland Progress later in July.  Here's a progress and a finished picture of my painting "Cotton Field Sentinel", which I started at the workshop.

Country Road Take Me Home

"Country Road Take Me Home" was painted at the John Pototschnik workshop in Pontotoc, Mississippi, this past weekend. I used an analogous palette, mixing all the colors used in the painting from only 3 colors: ultramarine blue, alizarin crimson and cadmium lemon yellow plus titanium white. First time to use a limited palette like this; it was a challenge but I like how this turned out.
